First intro class of jiu-jitsu
Thankyou to everyone who visited the Western JJ booth during Clubs' Week. Here is our latest information pertaining to our first two (free!) classes of the season.
Date/time: Monday, September 24, 10:15pm-1200am
Wednesday, September 26, 8:30pm-10:15pm
Location: Basement of Alumni Hall (Rm 15) on the UWO campus
What should i bring?: Track pants/shorts, gym shirt if possible. If you have a Gi, bring it too.
What will be happening those nights?: We will be providing a demo of JJ to show off the techniques we'll be learning over the year. Also, we'll learn some basic moves like a head-lock escape, etc.
Can i pay for my membership at those two classes?: Unfortunately, i have been informed by Campus Rec that we are NOT ABLE to take membership monies during the classes. If you want to signup and pay for Western JJ you will have to do this at the membership services in the UCC (it's the booth the basement of the UCC where the gym is). Our space in the course is limited, so if you're interested in joining Western JJ, sign up soon as it is first come, first serve! Our program has been full almost every year, over the last 8 years. The cost is $70 dollars per term, or $130 for the year (Sept-April)!!!
I want a Gi (the uniform that you'll see us wearing)...can i buy one on September 24/26th?: YES!! We will be taking Gi orders. They cost typically about 70-75 dollars.
I've never done any kind of martial art before...can i still participate?: FOR SURE! We are a beginners' club and have members of various skills/training. Everyone is welcome! Bring your friends!!
